Truth be told, I finished this project before the holidays just in time to turn it into a bar area for our Christmas Eve Eve party. It came down to the wire but I completed it the day before, threw some burlap on it and filled it with festive libations.
You might remember from an earlier post that we were given this piece from Brian’s lovely grandparents who are moving from their home. They purchased it in England when they lived there over 30 years ago and then stored it in the attic when they moved to Virginia. Needless to say, it’s pretty fragile, but still sturdy enough to house all of my platters and wine carafes!
The bones were really great but the marble slab that was on top of it was damaged in the move from England to Virginia. My plan is to find a beautiful remnant of marble or granite to replace it. In the meantime, burlap is a temporary fix. Seriously, is there anything it can’t do?!
It’s a perfect fit in our home and serves as a very functional buffet, which I certainly appreciate! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Parker for passing down this lovely piece! I will cherish it always.
